Local Lady Tina Dark wins Camborne Town Council Bi-Election

Local resident Tina Dark had been chosen by local Conservatives as their representative for the Camborne West Ward on the Town Council. Tina, who lives in the ward with her family, was born in Truro and has settled in Camborne. Tina has been involved with many local organisations, including Cornwall Neighbourhood For Change as a volunteer playworker. She is undergoing training to become a qualified playworker, starting up her own kid's club in 2009 called 'Forget Me Not Kid's Club' held in Camborne Parish Church Hall. Tina realises the importance of Camborne Town Council, especially with the Unitary Council being based in Truro. She feels it is important that Camborne should belong and be controlled by the people through its Town Council. Tina is determined to work hard for the local community and the whole of Camborne. Please contact us for any information or for any help you may need.

Message from the Chairman ~ Staurt Odgers

Thursday 6th May 2010. Conservatives will remember this date with great joy. After many years, the Constituency has a Conservative MP, George Eustice.

On behalf of the Association a sincere thank you to every member and supporter for their support during the campaign. Whether walking miles delivering literature or campaigning on the doorstep, displaying posters, stuffing envelopes or simply going out on polling day and casting your vote for George. We would not have won it without this support. A very big, thank you.

There has been recent changes, subject to the Executive approval, within the personnel of the management of the Association. Myself, Stuart Odgers is Acting Chair, while Geoff Penhaligon has taken over the role of Deputy Chair Political. Geoff and his campaign team at Hayle put in a tremendous effort that really won the 'battle' in the new Hayle ward. Roger Wilmer remains Treasurer with Rosemary Southwood as Deputy Chair Membership and Fundraising.

I draw your attention to the Events programme, which has been organised by Rosemary and her team. They have been working very hard to put together a varied programme that deserves all our support. Thank you also to those members who have agreed to host these events. Please support as many of these events as you can.

Over the coming months we hope to:

Produce a quarterly Newsletter to keep members and supporters and occasionally the general public informed about the Conservative Association and Party.

Build up Branch membership and establish new branches. A number of our Branches work extremely hard for the Association, we need to follow their example. There is always the possibility that we may face another Election sooner than hoped. Therefore it is imperative that we all support each other, to ensure we are even stronger as an Association by the next Election.

Involve younger people, both politically and socially through their 'Future' Association and inviting them along to our events. We need to build on this section of our party as they really are, 'our future'.

If there are any issues where you or your Branch needs assistance, please contact us.
